We currently take care of 20 motelo yellow-legged turtles.

The majority comes from Lima of seizures and rescues that ATFFS LIMA performed. Then, in the year 2015 they were transferred to our center where warm weather, good food and medical care have been helping the growth, development and well-being of all our turtles.

Our center has had the birth of 3 motelo turtles at the beginning of the year. They are receiving special care, making them grow up healthy.

Life expectancy

They can live between 50 and 70 years.

Habitat

It is found in humid tropical forests of South America (Colombia, Venezuela, Guayana, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia).

Diet

They are omnivores, they feed on fruits, vegetables, leaves and even insects, worms and snails.

Reproduction

It reaches sexual maturity between 5 and 7 years of age. The female digs an egg and deposits between 5 and 8 eggs that hatch after 4 to 5 months.
